LANSING, Michigan - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has received a federal Transportation Enhancement Program grant for landscaping and an ornamental fence along Interstate 75 in Hamtramck, improving the visual impact of the freeway, State Senator Martha G. Scott (D-Highland Park) announced today. “The citizens of Hamtramck have long been calling for a barrier along Interstate 75 to decrease noise and improve the scenery along the highway,” Senator Scott said. “The new barrier will be a great asset as we work to attract businesses and homeowners to this City of Promise.” MDOT and the City of Hamtramck will coordinate efforts to add landscaping and an ornamental fence along the MDOT right of way on I-75 within the city limits, improving the visual impact of the freeway. The project budget is $709,720, including $567,776 in federal transportation enhancement funds and $141,944 from MDOT. # # # |
